Is your Child Stuck in Rigid Thinking Patterns?

Do you have a child or teen who resists change or gets upset when things don’t go their way?

You might be dealing with rigid thinking! Rigid thinking is tough on parents because our kids are often hard to reason with when they get into these patterns. It may even cause meltdowns, doors to slam and mega consequences. Rigid thinking closes us off to new opportunities, ideas and ways of doing things. Rigid thinking makes us judgmental, harsh and uncooperative!

How to Deal with your Child’s Rigid Thinking:

Rigid thinkers often have difficulty thinking flexibly and adapting to change. Flexibility skills are crucial in helping our kids step out of rigid mode and into the flexibility zone. In month 2 of our online courses, we travel to Flexible Thinking Island. On the Island there is opportunity to be accepting of others opinions and ideas, tips to deal with change along with ways to step out of “negative thought bubbles” and bust through brick wall thoughts. Brick wall thoughts keep us stuck. They build a barrier in front of us that is often hard to bust through, almost if our kids are super glued to their opinions and ideas and can’t find their way out.

Flexibility takes practice but is very possible. Helping kids and teens understand how to get there is key!
